5 Ways to Practice Self-Care at the Dentist

Going to the dentist can feel stressful for a lot of people. We believe it’s time to change that and we’re here to help. Let’s talk about 5 ways to practice self-care at the dentist to help take your visit from stressful to relaxing.

1. Be Comfortable

When you get ready for your dental visit, dress with comfort in mind. Imagine your perfect outfit for a cozy day in, reading a book and drinking a cup of tea or coffee by the fireplace. That’s how we hope your dental visit experience feels.

You can also bring a favorite blanket or pillow to really take your comfort to the next level. Just because you’re going to a dental appointment doesn’t mean you can’t bring the comforts of home with you!

2. Wear a Favorite Scent

One of our favorite ways to practice self-care at the dentist, essential oils can be a great source of comfort and calm. Oils such as lavender, chamomile, rose, ylang ylang, and jasmine are all valued for their ability to help promote a sense of relaxation and well-being.

3. Enjoy Your Favorite Show, Movie, or Music

Many modern dental offices are equipped with TV screens and headphones so that you can enjoy your favorite show, movie, or music during dental procedures. Don’t be afraid to say “yes” when they’re offered and take some relaxing “me time” while your dental team works on your teeth!

4. Tell Your Dentist Your Concerns

Sometimes practicing self-care means speaking up for yourself. If you feel anxious, unsure, or uncomfortable, let your dentist know! Your dentist will be happy to answer any questions you have.

5. Ask Your Dentist for What You Need

One of the most important ways to practice self-care at the dentist is to talk with your dentist about what you need prior to and during your visit. That way, your dental team can do their best to accommodate your needs and make any adjustments that might be helpful throughout your visit to ensure your confidence and satisfaction with your dental care.

Call our Imperial Dental Office, to make an appointment with a dentist who may be able to help you find out more about this topic, and improve your oral health.

Covid 19

We have your health and the quality of air you breathe as our TOP priority.

1) All staff members will wear full protective equipment, i.e. gowns, head covers, masks, face shields, gloves.

2) Every patient must complete a special COVID-19 survey and confirm that they are symptom-free before receiving an appointment.

3) Hypochlorous Acid treatment of rooms between patients (more effective than bleach and SAFE (the human body makes this chemical to combat microbes!)

4) Barrier wrapping in all treatment rooms

5) Surgically Clean Air throughout office turning over the room air every few minutes!

6) HVAC in the office with UVC Light Treatment (powerful disinfectant known to kill microbes), UVC light treatment in treatment room

7) Patients are welcome to sit in our socially distanced waiting room, or in their car. Whatever they are the most comfortable with.

8) NO EXTRA PEOPLE CAN COME WITH THE PATIENT UNLESS THE PATIENT REQUIRES SPECIAL CARE. Those people will be asked to wait outside until they are needed.

With these special efforts we can feel confident we are doing out utmost to protect the health of our staff and patients
